As an author of olilolo (though not during November) and avid reader of Girl Clumsy, can I just say that that I may now die happy... well maybe not happy, but at least extremely content with the world of blogging. Actually it's more likely to be heart disease, but you get my point.

When this competiton was first touted, I thought it would be an Ed Kavalee'esque idea, to be tossed aside and forgotten forever. How wrong I was.

"It’s good though – now I know what to serve at the combined Clumsy/olilolo Christmas party!"
An annual tradition which has become a must on anyone's social calendar. Let's make it a costume party! I'm totally coming as Xena!

As I wrote on the other blog, I have to vote for Xena.

Not because of Xena is better than Buffy, but because Xena's Autolycus (The self proclaimed King of Thieves) is a much better supporting character than Buffy's Xander (the less impressively titled "Heart of the Scooby Gang").

Xander is a wet blanket! When will white middle class heterosexual males get a shot at being the star of a major television show?!?!?

Bruce Campbell Forever!

Hmmm. That actually means The Wah wins, because he's the one who came up with the "Lesbian Lasagne" line.

See, the Wah wins by default without even trying. He really is that good.

It's good though - now I know what to serve at the combined Clumsy/Olilolo Christmas party!

Thanks for cross-posting YB, you're a champ!

If one of the concepts was to get more readers, it worked. Cross poster #1 reporting for duty. Good work all round. GC gets writing credit tho becuase nothing above beats "Lesbian lasagne - no meat!" Also, I totally agree that thigh-high boots, a mini-skirt and a leather jacket is a completely wicked outfit.

I cannot believe you're saying stuff is unconnected in Xena - it's no more unconnected than in Buffy!

In 'The Bitter Suite', we segue from an introductory song for each character (Hey, you're in Illusia, there's going to be some shit happening), then into a set-up of their 'essential' nature - in Xena's case, a warrior, in Gabrielle's case, a peace-loving rural type. There is an inevitable clash between the two personalities; which ends with the dream Xena killing Gabrielle. Of course, it's an illusion, and Gabrielle reappears to accuse Xena of selfishness and pride.

The two thrash out their inner emotions in a duet, before the dreamscape captures them in a recreation of the past, complete with key series figures who've been markers along the way - Calisto, Ceasar, Ming Tien etc.

They realise they have to work together and forgive each other to survive. Gabrielle does so, then Xena realises there is one last crime she must admit to before she, Gabrielle and murdered Solan can move on. She sings it out, they forgive her, and they wake up happy and wet.

Oo-er.

It's just WEIRD how you would think that's less connected as a plot than Buffy, which is establishing song (my life sucks), realisation song (hey there's some shit happening), relationship songs (happy/not-so-happy couplings - Willow/Tara, Xander/Anya, Spike/Buffy, Giles/Buffy); song of resolve (Let's go confront shit); big revelation song; let's move on song.

....oh dear God, I'm so nerdish.

Great write up though. Quite frankly mine pales in comparison.
